Once again the question of where do you find B-memos has crossed my e-desk. Often cited, extremely powerful and policy driving for school boards in Ontario, they are often the least known and often difficult to locate documents.
In essence these are the memorandum by which the Ministry of Education communicates with Directors across the province. Usually tied to financial issues they encompass everything from Partnerships, Grants for Student Needs (GSN), B-10-10 Requests for Capital Priorities to and School Closure Guidelines.
Often connected to the “B-memos” are the “SB Memos” which are from the School Business Support Branch. These include the deeper detail of projects that have often been initiated via earlier or tandem B-memo policy directives. Recent examples include the information tied to the awarding of the contract for the new facility condition assessment program. The memos are sorted by year and do not go out of date until superceded, rescinded or they expire due to a time-line. As such items from prior years are often still in effect.
